GAEM Foundation appoints Marco Pugliese, a recognized expert in innovation in the biomedical sector, as Managing Director
GAEM Foundation reinforces its team with the incorporation as director of Marco Pugliese, expert in innovation in the field of health. Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Barcelona, Marco will contribute with his experience and talent to boost GAEM Foundation research projects to cure multiple sclerosis and improve the quality of life of MS sufferers.
Marco has been founder and CEO of Neurotec Pharma, a project that emerged from the University of Barcelona with the aim of developing treatments for neurodegenerative diseases of the central nervous system. His major achievement was to conduct an international Phase IIa clinical trial with 110 patients with recurrent remitting multiple sclerosis.
As director of EIT Health Spain between 2015 and 2019, Marco developed the 2017-2020 strategic plan of the Spanish node, achieving the goals of developing innovative health products and services. Previously, Marco was Manager of Innovation and Technology Transfer at the Vall d’Hebron Research Institute (VHIR).
Marco holds a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Barcelona. He has published 24 scientific articles in different international journals and is the author of 7 patents, which are the result of his research activity.
